Maestro Trailer Talk: Nithiin Plays A Blind Pianist With A Secret In This Telugu Remake Of Andhadhun

Maestro is the official Telugu remake of Sriram Raghavan's Andhadhun (with Tabu, Ayushmann Khurrana and Radhika Apte). Nithiin's last release was Rang De and it was a theatrical one. Maestro, also starring Tamannaah and Jisshu Sengupta, releases soon directly to Disney+ Hotstar. The original was a black comedy thriller about a blind pianist who unwittingly becomes a witness to the murder of a film actor, before a series of twisted plot events that keep you guessing as to who people in the film really are. The trailer of the film dropped today and feels slick and also relatively lighter in terms of mood than the original (at least from the trailer).

It barely gives anything away, except to show that Nithiin is a blind pianist, with Tamannaah and Nabha Natesh reprising the roles of Tabu and Radhika Apte, respectively. You see romantic snippets between the characters of Nithiin and Nabha Natesh. And we're also introduced to the character who is going to turn the pianist's world upside down (the trailer captions "the woman who will change his life forever"). Tamannaah's character says: I can't spell 'aphrodisiac' but I can tell you what it means.

For those who've seen Andhadhun you could connect the dots from the trailer and it seems to be a close remake. But if you haven't, it gets intriguing, for example, when it suggests that the pianist might have a secret ("every artist has a secret"). Jisshu Sengupta plays a cop investigating the murder of the actor and we see visuals of him trying to figure if the pianist is really blind.

The last shot of the trailer is a rabbit scurrying on hearing a gunshot. Just before that, we get a shot that casts serious doubts about whether Nithiin's character is actually blind (that is, if you didn't know the answer already from Andhadhun).

Maestro is produced by Shresht Movies. It's directed by Merlapaka Gandhi and stars Nithiin, Tamannaah, Jisshu Sengupta, Ananya, Naresh and Nabha Natesh. Music is by Mahati Swara Sagar and cinematography by J. Yuvaraj.
