One of the best thrillers in 2018 was AndhaDhun, based on the French short film Le Accordeur. "That film ends on a solid tense situation but somehow I found it very funny. That was the nucleus…We had to construct a
backstory and a forward story from this madcap situation," said director Sriram Raghavan. AndhaDhun follows Akash (Ayushmann Khurrana), a seemingly blind pianist in Pune who gets embroiled in a web of murder and deceit when he is invited to play for actor Pramod Sinha (Anil Dhawan) and his wife Simi (Tabu) on their anniversary. Filled with numerous twists and turns, its ambiguous ending was the subject of much debate.
Written by Raghavan, Arijit Biswas, Pooja Ladha Surti, Yogesh Chandekar and Hemanth Rao, AndhaDhun is a deliciously twisted story featuring wonderfully calibrated performances by its cast. The film was not only one of the most widely acclaimed films of the year, but also one of its biggest box office successes.
