In an media interview with the Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) actor Djimon Hounsou and Oppenheimer (2023) actor Cillian Murphy, when asked if they watched any Indian films, while Murphy denied to have watched any Indian films and also felt terrible to acknowledge that but Hounsou known for his powerful performances in films like Blood Diamond and Gladiator expressed his admiration for Shekhar Kapur’s 1994 release Bandit Queen. The Oscar nominated director's cinematic influence was evident as Hounsou raves about Bandit Queen.

In an interview excerpt, the Hollywood actor Hounsou revealed watching the Bollywood film Bandit Queen, directed by Kapur and said, “Yes, I know one Indian film, Shekhar Kapur’s film about Bandit Queen, that was a very very poignant film, that was one memorable film and it is because of Shekhar Kapur also he was such a great director.

On the work front, post the success and winning numerous international accolades for his 2022 release What Love’s Got To Do With It?, Kapur is currently working on his next, the sequel to his 1983 movie Masoom, called Masoom… The Next Generation.
