Director Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is at the forefront of the Golden Globe Awards 2024. The film’s lead actor Cillian Murphy has won the trophy for Best Actor- Drama for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist credited for being the ‘father of the atomic bomb’ for his role in the Manhattan project- the World War II undertaking that developed the first nuclear weapons.

Cillian Murphy left behind Bradley Cooper for Maestro (2023), Leonardo DiCaprio for Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), Colman Domingo for Rustin (2023), Andrew Scott for All of Us Strangers (2023) and Barry Keoghan for Saltburn (2023).

Murphy was seen getting emotional after winning the video, a video of the same went viral on social media. The Golden Globe official X handle of the congratulated the actor and wrote, “Congratulations to Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer on your WIN for Best Male Actor – Motion Picture – Drama! #GoldenGlobes.”

The 81st Golden Globe Awards are currently underway at the Beverly Hills, California. Indian audience can stream the award show on Lionsgate Play.
