Anand L Rai celebrates 7 years of Nil Battey Sannata

Anand L Rai’s Nil Battey Sannata (2015) has completed seven years. On the film’s seventh anniversary, the filmmaker said, “Nil Battey Sannata will always remain a special film. When I read the script for the first time, I was sure I want to make this film. It was a perfect balance of emotions, content, the right message, and rich characters. It was a film that still resonates with many viewers even today and I am so glad to have backed such a strong story.” 

The movie marked the directorial debut of Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. Starring Swara Bhaskar, the story revolves around a single mother, who works as a maid with big ambitions for her daughter.

Nil Battey Sannata had bagged several awards at the 62nd Filmfare Awards. The movie  was remade in Tamil and Malayalam. Rai’s next projects include Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba and Jhimma 2.
