According to a report in Hindustan Times, Akshay Kumar has walked out of director Anand L Rai’s film Gorkha. A close source to the portal revealed, “Some veterans from the unit that Major General Cardozo was attached with during the war reached out, putting major question marks on his version of the events. Akshay has utmost respect for the armed forces and does not want to associate with a story that may have a shadow of doubt.”
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Kumar’s spokesperson has confirmed the news but didn’t reveal any further details. The actor was supposed to essay the role of the war hero who fought in the wars of 1962, and 1965, and most notably in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.
Kumar has previously worked in Atrangi Re (2021) and Raksha Bandhan (2022) both directed by Rai.
Kumar will star in Selfiee with Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty. The film is set for February 2023 release. He also has Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff, and Soorarai Pottru (2020) remake.
