Anil Kapoor, who will be seen playing a failed singer keen on helping fulfill his daughter's dreams in the upcoming Fanney Khan, made his Hindi debut with a small role in the 1979 film Hamare Tumhare. Since then, he has gone on to become one of India's most successful film actors, and has starred in several international productions as well.

Answering a question from FC editor Anupama Chopra about the biggest mistake he's seen other actors make, he said it's when they take themselves too seriously. "They (people) keep on telling me that I'm full of energy and I'm very energetic. So I can't take it too seriously when I'm not full of energy. I have to be normal. I don't have to live up to that all my life," Kapoor said.

The 61-year-old actor says sometimes he needs to take a step back and recuperate. "I'm saying I need a break because I've been at it a year, a year-and-a-half, I've finished four films back to back. There was a wedding in the family. There was a tragedy in the family. I need a break, I'm tired. So I have to be honest with myself. I just can't say, 'Nahi, I'm Superman. I'm energetic.'"

Kapoor also stresses on how actors should not let praise get to them. "Sometimes people say, 'You're a great actor yaar. You've done a fantastic job in the film!' I can't take that seriously. I've done a great job because everything fell in place. It was a good story, it was a good screenplay, it had great music, it had great co-stars," he says, adding that even the best of actors will falter if their co-stars don't understand the rhythm of the scene.

"These are the things which I've learnt…like my age–the kind of roles I do. I'm not delusional. I just cannot do what I did 30 years back. Physically, I can't do it. So I have to do what suits me and do my best. So that's what I do."

The actor also mentions Amitabh Bachchan as his inspiration. "He's 75-years-old and he's working! Everything that he's done in his life, in his career. We have a role model in front of us in our business. We don't have to look to Hollywood. We are here to get motivated, get inspired. I say, 'If he can do it, why can't I do it?'"
