Marking Vikram’s birthday on Monday, the makers of the film released a making video from the film detailing the gritty transformation of the actor for the role. The almost 2-minute video follows the efforts of the crew and cast in transforming the actor into a rugged sun-burnt mine worker of the Kolar Gold Fields, who rides on a horse to wage war on oppressors. The film also co-stars Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and has music by GV Prakash.
On the occasion of Muthaiah Muralitharan’s 51st birthday, the makers of his biopic 800 released the first-look poster of the film. The poster features Madhur Mittal of Slumdog Millionaire fame with the light reflection of the stumps and bails shining on his face, against the backdrop of a cricket stadium.
Helmed by MS Sripathy, the sports biopic co-stars Mahima Nambiyar, Narain, Nasser, Riythvika and others. Produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures, the biopic is expected to be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
The makers of the blockbuster black comedy film Soodhu Kavvum have announced a sequel in the works. Helmed by SJ Arjun (Nalan Kumarasamy directed the original), the sequel is titled Soodhu Kavvum 2: Nadum Naatu Makkalum. While Mirchi Shiva plays the lead, Karunakaran, Ramesh Thilak and Radha Ravi, who were a part of the original, are expected to reprise their roles.
Karthik K Thillai and Ignatious Aswin have been roped in to handle cinematography and editing, respectively, and the film will have music by Edwin Louis Viswanath. According to reports, Vijay Sethupathi is expected to appear in a cameo.
The makers of Natural Star Nani have announced the release date of his upcoming 30th film which is yet to be titled. Helmed by debutante Shouoryuv, the film co-stars Mrunal Thakur. The team of Nani is currently shooting in Goa. The makers released the poster of the film announcing the release date which is December 21.
Akhil Akkineni's next film Agent sees him in a full-blown action avatar. The film's trailer, which was released recently, introduces him as a maverick spy who is recruited to take down a powerful and notorious syndicate headed by a gangster. This takes him on a journey with Mammootty, who seems to be the head of the operation. But what happens when the spy goes rogue and suddenly finds himself making enemies on both sides?
Directed by Surender Reddy, the action film also co-stars Dino Morea and Sakshi Vaidya. Agent will hit the screens on April 28.
The makers of the Malayalam film Thrishanku recently released the first teaser of the film. The comedy stars Arjun Ashokan and Anna Ben as a couple who are all set to elope and get married. The teaser begins in a hotel where a tense Arjun Ashokan is with his family. He looks around as voiceovers detail his marriage. He finds a very angry Anna Ben who walks up to him, suggesting a history between them. The teaser then shows glimpses of the rest of the film, which seems to be a road comedy.
Thrishanku is written and directed by debutant Achuth Vinayak, while Ajith Nair contributes in the screenplay. The film also stars Suresh Krishna, Zarin Shihab and Shiva Hariharan.
Director Mari Selvaraj, who is currently in the post production stage of his film Maamannan starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh, Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil, recently revealed information about his collaboration with Dhruv Vikram. The film will be a biopic based on the Arjuna Award winning Kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan. Selvaraj revealed that he always wanted to make a film about his story and that the sports star was a close relative. The yet-to-be titled film is all set to go on floors after the post production work of Maamannan. Selvaraj also has the Disney Plus Hotstar film Vaazhai and his second collaboration with Dhanush in the pipeline.
The makers of the Vasanth Ravi starrer ASVINS recently released the trailer for the film. Released officially by actor Dhanush through his social media handle, the film is billed as a psychological horror film. Based on a short film made by the Germany based director Tarun Teja, the film follows a couple of YouTube content creators who unleash a devil into the world.
The film also stars Vimala Raman, Muralidaran, Simran Pareek and Udhaya Deep. It is produced by Praveen Daniel as well as BVSN Prasad of the Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra banner. The technical crew includes Vijay Siddharth and Edwin Saakey as music director and cinematographer respectively.
Director Suri, known for his raw and gritty films such as Duniya, Jackie and Tagaru, is all set to collaborate with noted distributor and producer Jayanna. The duo recently announced their project which is set to star actor Viraat of Kiss fame. While the plot and other details of the project are yet to be revealed, the makers have assured that it will be a mass entertainer.
Jayanna has previously been associated with director Suri as a distributor of his films, including his debut Duniya. As a producer, he is known for producing hits such as Drama, Googly, Ranavikrama and Rustum through the Jayanna Films banner. This will also be their first collaboration as a producer with actor Viraat.The film is all set to go on floors once Suri finishes his work on the Abhishek Ambareesh starrer Bad Manners.
The makers of the Vijay Raghavendra starrer Raaghu recently released a trailer of the film. It is a solo act with actor Vijay Raghavendra being the only performer in the film. With a voiceover by actor Dr. Shivarajkumar, the trailer positions the film as an action thriller with hints of horror. The film is directed by M Anand Raj and is produced by Ranvith Shivakumar and Abhishek Kota under the DKS Studios and Kota Film Factory banners. With cinematography by Uday Leela and music by Suraj Jois, the film is all set to release on 28th April.
The makers of Fahadh Faasil’s upcoming film Dhoomam released its first look poster. The poster shows Fahadh’s character having his mouth shut by tape and also features the characters of Aparna Balamurali, Roshan Mathew and Vineeth Radhakrishnan. The poster was released by the makers with the caption, ‘There is no smoke without fire, here is the first spark’.
Touted to be a psychological thriller, Dhoomam is written and directed by Pawan Kumar of Lucia and U Turn fame. This is the Kannada director’s debut Malayalam film. Also making their Malayalam cinema debut is Hombale Films, the production house behind the KGF series and Kantara. Produced by Vijay Kiragandur, the technical crew of the film includes Poornachandra Tejaswi as the music director and Preetha Jayaraman as the cinematographer.
After the success of the period crime thriller Kabzaa, the makers of the film have announced its sequel. Revealing the news at a success meet, director R Chandru also announced the film on social media with a poster. Starring Upendra and Shriya Saran, the original also starred Sudeep and Shivarajkumar in pivotal roles.
The sequel is also set to star the three leads, and is bankrolled by Chandru, along with Ramachandra Gowda and KP Sreekanth. The makers have planned to release the sequel in multiple languages, just like the original. Other details are yet to be revealed.
The makers of the Pawan Kalyan starrer OG recently announced that the actor had joined the sets of the film. The film recently went on floors in Mumbai. Touted to be an action film, OG is directed by Sujeeth, who had recently directed the Prabhas starrer Saaho. The film is produced by DVV Entertainment with Ravi K Chandran and S Thaman roped in as the cinematographer and music director respectively.
The makers of Jr.NTR’s much anticipated next film recently announced the casting of Saif Ali Khan in the project. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film also stars Jahnvi Kapoor and went on floors recently in Ramoji Film City.
Tentatively titled NTR30, the film is produced by Sudhakar Mikkilineni and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram under the Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts banner. The technical crew includes Anirudh on music, Rathnavelu as the cinematographer and Sreekar Prasad as the editor.
The makers of the mass entertainer Dasara recently announced the OTT premier of the film. The Nani and Keerthy Suresh starrer will start streaming on Netflix from April 27th. The film had its theatrical release on March 30 and opened to positive reviews. Director Krishna's Pathu Thala (co-starring Silambarasan TR, Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar), too, will be released on Amazon Prime Video on April 27.
The streaming platform SonyLiv recently announced their first originally produced Malayalam web series. Starring Saiju Kurup, the series Jai Mahendran is created by Rahul Riji Nair. Touted to be a political satire, the series sees Kurup playing a corrupt Tahsildar officer who gets caught in his own web of bureaucracy.
While Rahul Riji Nair has created the series and will serve as its producer and showrunner, his former assistant Srikanth Mohan will be directing it. Other members of the cast include Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Miya George, Suresh Krishna, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Balachandran Chullikad.
The teaser of Arulnithi's next film Kazhuvethi Moorkkan, an action film detailing the effects of dirty politics in a Tamil Nadu village, was launched by Lokesh Kanagaraj on Saturday. The film, which also stars Dushara Vijayan, has music by Imman, and features Arulnithi in a vigilante role.
