In Venky Atluri's upcoming film SIR (Vaathi in Tamil), Dhanush is not just a lecturer, but a lecturer who can pack a few punches and punch dialogues. The bilingual film's teaser was released to mark Dhanush's birthday on July 28.
Named after Independence activist and teacher Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Dhanush plays a junior lecturer in the film. "Education is equal to the offering we place before God in the temple. Distribute it. Do not sell it like a dish from a five-star hotel," Dhanush says a few seconds into the trailer, with the dialogue interspersed with the lecturer deftly roughing up a few baddies.
The minute-long teaser suggests that the movie unfolds in the 90s. The film also posits Dhanush as a teacher who cleans up the education system. The film also co-stars Samyuktha Menon, Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakani, Thotapalli Madhu and Aadukalam Naren, among others.
