Writer Trailer Talk: The Life And Times Of A Cop

Debutante Franklin Jacob's Writer takes an intimate look at what it means to be a cop in modern day Tamil Nadu. In the trailer, we see the journey of Thangaraj (Samuthirakani) as a writer at a police station, where he is not welcome. Unlike a regular cop film, Writer explores the life of an aging policeman who struggles to do the job he has been doing for the last thirty five years. The film places him in the middle of an exploitative justice system and its cruelties. 

Writer has an ensemble cast including Ineya, Dileeban, Harikrishnan Anbudurai, Subramaniam Shiva, G.M. Sundhar, Maheswari, Lizzie Antony, Kavitha Bharathy, Kavin Jay Babu, 'Merku Thodarchi Malai" Antony, Lucky Kumar, D. Lemuvel, Bose Venkat, Muthuraman, Sivamaran and Anush.

The film's music is composed by Govind Vasantha. Pratheep Kaliraja, who previously has worked on Neelam Productions' Seththumaan, is the cinematographer. Manigandan Sivakumar is the editor. It is produced by Pa.Ranjith, Abhayanand Singh, Piiyush Singh and Aditi Anand. 

Recently, a song that was released titled 'Adi Adi' brings tunes set on a nadaswaram in a folk-like setup. Composed by Govind Vasantha, sung by Anthakudi Ilayaraja, Lakshmi Chandru, Ananda Priyan and Jesurani, it is penned by Yuga Bharathi..

Samuthirakani's most recent release was director Stunt Silva's Chithirai Sevvaanam, cast alongside Pooja Kannan and Rima Kallingal. Ineya will also be seen in another upcoming film, Coffee, directed by Sai Krishna.

Writer is set for a theatrical release on December 24.
