On the occasion of Kamal Haasan’s 67th birthday, the makers of Vikram have released a first glance into their world. The film co-stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in key roles, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and co-written by Rathna Kumar. This is Kamal Haasan’s 232nd film.
In the first glimpse that was released today, we are introduced to Kamal Haasan’s character who is named Vikram, as the background music strongly suggests. We see a setting of a prison and what looks like a shootout is underway. In earlier reports, it was suggested that Kamal Haasan plays the role of a police officer. In this video, we don’t see him in a police uniform but he holds a shield as bullets are rained upon him by the opposite group. The teaser suggests the film to be a high-intensity drama.
Previously, in the title announcement, we see a big log cabin set up in the middle of a forest and Kamal Haasan looking out the window. He is setting up for lunch with politicians, policemen and businessmen who are all masked. While he preps for lunch, he also prepares for a fight with guns, knives hidden in every corner of the house. The title is announced by saying “Once upon a time, there lived a ghost named Vikram”. It ends with the camera zooming in on Kamal Haasan’s face as he says, “Shall we begin? (Aarambikalaama?)”.
Kamal has already starred in an action film called Vikram back in 1986. However, this film is not a sequel or related to the previous film.
The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and Philomin Raj is the editor making Vikram their next collaboration with the director after Master. The cinematography is handled by Girish Gangadharan, of Jallikattu fame. The film is being produced by Raaj Kamal Films International.
