Moothon Trailer Talk: Nivin, The Bhai Has Arrived

A 90-second teaser of Nivin Pauly's long-awaited Moothon (the elder) was released online by the film's star Nivin Pauly, Tamil superstar Suriya, actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap.

Very little is revealed with most of the information being conveyed through an intense voiceover in Nivin Pauly's voice. The film is said to be set in Lakshwadeep and the dialect of that region is evident in the voiceover, which describes the arrival of a menacing 'villain' and what happens to him later. It is only for a few brief seconds that we're shown the Nivin Pauly's face though it is covered in white paint and darkened eyes. The effect these visuals create, though, is one of dark intensity, reminiscent of films like Anurag Kashyap's Dev D and Mani Ratnam's Raavanan.

The film is being directed by actor-turned director Geetu Mohandas, who had earlier made Liar's Dice, India's official entry to the Oscars of 2014. The Hindi dialogues of the movie are written by Anurag Kashyap with Rajeev Ravi (Geethu Mohandas' husband) handling the cinematography.
