Karnan Teaser Talk: Dhanush’s Karnan Arrives As The Saviour Of The Oppressed

The trailer begins with an image of a headless statue sitting in prayer, as if suggesting that the film takes place in a mindless world. We see figures wearing the mask of a goddess with eyes wide open; it's a bit unnerving, as if the gods have suddenly begun to walk about again.

With a visual of a large bird preying on little ones, we hear a call for a saviour, someone who will protect the helpless ones against the scheming and powerful. A horse neighs; a hand grabs a sword; Karnan, bearing the sword, mounts the horse and begins to ride towards his call of duty.

It seems like a riot is about to break out in a village and Karnan is the only person who can save his people. We see images of restless men (and animals) preparing for war and Karnan riding towards them. The highpoint of the teaser is the arrival of Karnan on a horse, with a sword in hand.

The makers had recently released three songs from the film titled 'Kandaa Vara Solunga', 'Pandarathi Puranam', 'Thattaan Thattaan',  all garnering millions of views within days.

Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, who made Dhanush's recent Asuran (directed by Vetrimaaran) the film's music is by Santosh Narayanan, in his second collaboration with Mari Selvaraj.

In July last year, on actor Dhanush's birthday, the Karnan team had released a first look poster as well as a short making video of the film.

The first look poster shows many hands coming together to hold a sword straight up, piercing the skies. Splitting the image into two, on the left you can see a group of animals, including a cow, a horse, a goat and an elephant. On the opposite side, we can also see a group of people standing in one line, as a cloud of smoke emerges from behind both groups.

The film is set to release on April 9, 2021.
