Kadaisi Vivasayi Trailer Talk: The ‘Last Farmer’ Who Held On

Makers of Kadaisi Vivasayi, an upcoming Tamil film, directed by M Manikandan have released a trailer today. The film stars Nallandi, Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu.

The trailer introduces a village that is gearing up for a festival. Later, we see a farmer (Nallandi) is the only one in the village that has not given up on farming. He is mowing his farm, planting a crop and has a harvest amidst many pieces of barren plots. He is offered money for the land but he simply refuses. Vijay Sethupathi is his son and a devotee of Lord Murugan and Yogi Babu, the elephant mahout, introduces us to Kalyani, the elephant. The farmer is shown to be accused in a case and a trial proceeding is going on.

Director M. Manikandan speaking to Film Companion spoke about the film and said, "The main character is a 75-year-old, hearing impaired farmer. He is not updated with the present and has no idea of the technology revolution. People around this village have given up farming because of lack of water. This one man continues as he doesn't know anything else." He also said that he had an idea for this film right after his critically-acclaimed debut, Kaaka Muttai but he preferred working on other films (Kutrame Thandanai and Aandavan Kattalai) before he could give the time and depth that this story required. It is also his second collaboration with Vijay Sethupathi.

The film has roped in some of the most reputed artists in the crew. The music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Thotta Tharani is the art director while Ajit Kumar is the editor. M Manikandan handled the cinematography and has produced the film as well. It is being presented by Vijay Sethupathi.

Kadaisi Vivasayi will release in theaters soon.
