Arya is Indian Army officer Captain Vetriselvan in Shakti Soundar Rajan's upcoming Tamil film Captain. And as with the filmmaker's earlier film Miruthan, this film too, introduces a fantastical creature for the hero to butt heads with. If it was zombies in 2016 film Miruthan, it's a murderous alien in Captain.
Captain Vetriselvan is a strong-willed soldier whose life revolves around his friends, who double up as family, at his regiment. And his approach to taking down an enemy has four phases — identification, learning the enemy's weaknesses, fooling them, and then the final showdown. "But every soldier knows that there's always a fifth phase for certain enemies," he reminds audiences in a voiceover. Vetriselvan and his team are recruited for a covert mission by a scientist (played by Simran), who introduces them to Sector 42, a secluded area in the forest that is occupied by an alien species. The sector has had neither civilian or military activity in the last 50 years. And people who have stepped into the alien's territory, haven't returned back home, we are told.
