Rashmi Rocket Trailer Talk: Taapsee Pannu Plays Sprinter Challenging An Unjust Law

The Rashmi Rocket trailer says the film has been "inspired by the struggle of several female athletes." Voiceovers tell us that the protagonist, Rashmi (Taapsee Pannu), has always been stubborn, refusing to listen to anyone but herself. Another thing the sprinter has always been is fast. She's eventually selected to represent India at the Asian Games, where she wins gold.

Things take an ominous turn when Rashmi is sent to a National Testing Centre, told she needs to take a blood test and asked to take off all her clothes. She's subjected to a 'gender test', the results of which say she's "ladki kam, ladka zyaada (less woman, more man)". She's banned from participating in any further tournaments, beaten by the police and called a fraud on national television. A lawyer (Abhishek Banerjee) then offers to fight her case before the High Court.

Directed by Akarsh Khurana, the film releases on ZEE5 on October 15.
