Naradan Trailer Talk: Tovino’s Latest Release Gets A New ‘Silent’ Trailer

In what's becoming a new trend in film marketing, the makers of Naradan chose to release a new trailer (its second) just two days before the release of the film. The team of Pawan Kalyan's hit film Bheemla Nayak too had recently released two trailers in two days leading up its theatrical release last week.

But with Naradan, the intention seems to be different because the first trailer had come out over two months ago. The new one-minute trailer is practically silent with only DJ Shekar's techno theme playing over a montage featuring the film's important characters. Designed to appear like the countdown just before the start of a prime time news show, the new cut reveals almost nothing in terms of plot or storyline.

Watch the new trailer here:

The previous trailer was more conventional in its approach and it revealed the conflicts of a "star" prime-time anchor named Chandraprakash (Tovino Thomas) told through two looks and two timelines (he smokes a cigarette in one and an e-cigarette in the other). Words like Media Ethics and Bet Journalism are used too, suggesting the film's satirical take on how modern media functions. It also showed us glimpses of the smaller characters in the film.

Naradan is Ashiq Abu's second film with Tovino after 2017's Mayanadhi. It is written by B Unni (Big B, Charlie and Leela). Apart from the Minnal Murali actor, the film also stars Anna Ben, Sharaf U Dheen, Joy Mathew, Indrans and Renji Panicker. It was shot by Jaffer Zadique and the music is by DJ Shekar and the Yakzan Gary Pereira-Neha Nair duo.

In a similar approach, the Oruthee team launched two teasers days after the release of its trailer. Unlike the previous trailer, this one focuses on Vinayakan's police officer character and shows the film's plot from his point of view. Like the latest trailer of Bheeshma Parvam, this teaser too ends with a tribute shot of KPAC Lalitha.

The film is being directed by VK Prakash and it also stars Vinayakan and Saiju Kurup. S Suresh Babu has written the thriller. According to the press release, it is said to be about family, love and overcoming personal worries. As for Navya, this is her return to a Malayalam film after 2012's Scene Onnu Nammude Veedu. Her most recent release though, was the Kannada remake Drishya 2, where she reprised the character played by Meena in the original.

The last few days also saw the release of two singles from two new movies. The first is 'Vijanamaam Thazhvaaram' in Anoop Menon's new film 21 Grams. Composed by Deepak Dev, the melancholic song works well for the film's investigative theme. Directed by Bibin Krishna, the thriller also stars Leona Lishoy and Renji Panicker.

The other single was from Pathrosinte Padappukal, directed by Afzal Abdul Latheef. Written and starring Dinoy Paulose (Thaneer Mathan Dinangal), the lovely song composed by Jakes Bejoy is comical in theme playing over a romantic 'love at first sight' mood.
