Mamangam Teaser Talk: The Film Looks Bigger Than You Thought

A week after we got a glimpse of Mohanlal-Priyadarshan's magnum opus Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham, we now have a minute-long teaser of Mammootty's mega-budget period film Mamamgam.

At first look, the teaser gives out the impression of a film that's much bigger in scale compared to its first look and posters. Set in 1695, the teaser does not focus on Mammootty's character alone. In fact, more than half the teaser talks about the '12-year-old who changed history.' Despite a few similarities (Mammotty's white horse, for instance in twilight) between two of Mammootty's earlier epics, such as Oru Vadakkan Veeraragatha and Pazhassi Raja, the teaser manages to create intrigue especially about the overall look of the film. And unlike other recent period films, Mamangam doesn't seem to have relied on CGI alone to create this look, giving its visuals a very real feel.

The booming soundtrack (the score is by Sanchit Balhara) too contributes to Mammootty's impressive hero introduction shot, even though the star gets very little screen time.

Directed by M Padmakumar, who made the recent superhit Joseph, the film also stars Unni Mukundan, Prachi Tehlan and Anu Sitara.
