The much-awaited trailer is out, and as expected, director Prithviraj hits it out of the park. On first viewing, the story sets the stage for Mohanlal's Stephen Nedumpally to arrive after the death of a major politician, PK Ramdas as three characters, played by Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas and Vivek Oberoi, are being introduced as his children. Nedumpally is then introduced as the next-in-line for the throne of "this god" even as he is surrounded by thieves disguised as angels.

Narrated in Mohanlal's voice, the trailer sets the stage for a variety of characters and situations, including what looks like a fight scene with a hammer. Christian imagery has been repeated throughout and they also find a reference in the dialogues.

As Stephen says, "it's not a good versus evil battle. It's between evil and evil," to set the stage for an exciting political thriller.

The film marks the directorial debut of star Prithviraj, with a script by Murali Gopy, who had earlier written films such as Kammara Sambhavam, Left Right Left and Ee Adutha Kalathu. There were reports that the script for Lucifer was first written for director Rajesh Pillai, who passed away in 2016.

Manju Warrier plays the female lead with a supporting cast that includes Vivek Oberoi, Indrajith Sukumaran and Tovino Thomas, apart from Kalabhavan Shajon and Fazil.

The film's cinematographer is Prithviraj's regular collaborator Sujith Vasudevan while Deepak Dev is composing the film's music.
