The trailer for Drishyam 2 is out and, as expected, there’s a new problem for Georgekutty (Mohanlal) and his family. The trouble, which seemed to have been put to rest in the first part, is back, and it looks like the investigation into the death of a top police officer’s son is going to take a new turn.
Interestingly, Georgekutty has moved ahead in life and has turned a film producer in the sequel. Will there be a film-within-a-film segment in it?
The team shot Drishyam 2 during the pandemic, and one looks forward to see how COVID-19 is going to be referenced in the thriller. The recently-released Tamil action drama Eeswaran and the Telugu comedy Zombie Reddy had plot points around the pandemic.
Shortly after Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal began their next collaboration Ram, the world came to a halt due to the pandemic, forcing the crew to stall shooting. Jeethu emerged with the surprise announcement of a sequel to Drishyam. The principal actors from the first part, also directed by Jeethu Joseph, reprise their roles in the sequel — Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath and Siddique will be seen alongside Mohanlal.
The biggest cast member to join the sequel is Murali Gopy, who scripted the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, starring Mohanlal. With all these exciting actors on-board, Drishyam 2 promises to be another emotional roller-coaster ride. The movie will hit Amazon Prime Video on February 19.
