Karwaan Trailer Talk: Irrfan In Piku Mode, Dulquer Salmaan And Daddy Issues

After Piku, Irrfan Khan is on the driver's seat again, and this time his co-passengers are Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar. Dulquer, a young professional, whose father has just expired on a pilgrimage to the Gangotri, and whose body seems to have gone missing while being consigned from one place to another; Palkar is a wayward student with an attitude problem; Irrfan is uncouth and streetwise, with an acerbic sense of humour, whose turquoise mini-van wears an Urdu couplet like a T-shirt slogan.

"3 lost souls, 2 dead bodies, one journey of a lifetime," says the tagline of Karwaan, directed by Akarsh Khurana (High Jack).

We hear of Kochi, Coimbatore and Ooty, and snapshots of South Indian small-town life pass by—foreigner backpackers who might be stoned, a folk dancer takes a smoke break, a lungi-clad Irrfan plays cricket with children in the streets at night, the three main characters take quick alcohol shots in a bar on the highway. Songs are by Prateek Kuhad, Slowcheeta, Anurag Saikia, and Imaad Shah.

Written by Khurana and Adhir Bhat, and produced by Priti Rathi Gupta and Ronnie Screwvala, Karwaan looks like a fun trip. It'll release on 3 August.
