For Their Shared Birthday, Films Starring Dhanush And Dulquer Salmaan Make An Announcement, Release A Video, A First Look, A Teaser and A Song

On actor Dhanush's birthday, the team behind Karnan, one of the year's most anticipated films, released a first look poster as well as a short making video of the film. Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, who made Dhanush's recent Asuran (directed by Vetrimaaran) the film's music is by Santosh Narayanan, in his second collaboration with Mari Selvaraj.

The first look poster shows many hands coming together to hold a sword straight up, piercing the skies. Splitting the image into two, on the left you can see a group of animals, including a cow, a horse, a goat and an elephant. On the opposite side, we can also see a group of people standing in one line, as a cloud of smoke emerges from behind both groups.

Later, at 5.55 pm, the team also released a short two-minute behind-the-scenes video of the film, showing the elaborate process that went behind constructing the village set. From paper to model to reality, the making video clearly establishes the work and the effort that went behind the realistic village, which is said to be at the centre of the film's plot. It also ends with an image of Dhanush holding a sword facing the sun (Karnan is Sun god Surya's son) in a silhouette. Watch the video here:

Apart from Karnan, the team behind Dhanush's other film Jagame Thanthiram also opted to release a song from the film on the star's birthday. Titled 'Rakita, Rakita, Rakita', again by Santosh Narayanan, the song is immediately catchy with hummable lyrics that are bound to go viral in the coming days. Sung by Dhanush himself and Santhosh Narayanan, 'Rakita' also features a video with a hook step that's again, bursting with virality.

While the visuals that follow might remind you of certain scenes of the director's previous hit Petta (not just because of his moustache', the song immediately connects you to the composer's hit 'Vaa Machaney' from Irudhi Suttru, which incidentally was about a die-hard Dhanush fan. Looks like it was a day of many launches given that two of Dulquer Salmaan's projects also found the time just right for updates. The first was the teaser of DQ's production Kurup, where the plays one Sukumara Kurup one of Kerala's most notorious criminals.

Trending at #1, the 40-second teaser shows a man entering his old imported car as a voiceover goes, "Now I'll decide who gets to see me…be it the police or a politician," as a line reads 'Conning Soon'. Watch the teaser here:

Apart from this, a new trilingual project was announced in which the actor is said to play Lieutenant Ram in a film to be produced by Vyjayanthi Movies that had earlier made Mahanati with the actor.

The period film is set in 1964 and it will be directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, finding a release in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu languages. Vishal Chandrashekar is composing the music.

Dulquer's latest release was the hit Kannum Kannum Kolaiyadithaal in Tamil apart from his own production Varane Avashyamund in Malayalam. He will also be seen next in choreographer-turned-director Brinda Gopal's Hey Sinamika, co-starring Aditi Rao Hydari.
