Jana Gana Mana Starring Prithviraj Sukumaran Is A Revenge Thriller

In the promotions of Jana Gana Mana, the lead actor Prithviraj Sukumaran hinted that there is a sequel to the film. Interestingly, he also revealed that the scenes shown in the teaser before and in the trailer now are actually from the second part.

The trailer opens up in a politician's office, where Prithviraj and an old man are seen waiting. While everyone is asked to go for lunch, Prithviraj gets his turn to meet the politician. He says to the old man that the canteen is outside the building. Prithviraj has difficulty in walking and is seen using a walking stick. In his conversation with the politician, we learn that this injury was caused due to police brutality and he is there to seek financial aid.

There seems to be a flashback to Prithviraj, where we are shown college protests and related issues. Suraj Venjaramoodu plays the policeman in the flashback scenes. The politician mocks him saying Prithviraj's earlier actions robbed him of his career, family and everything. Prithviraj says 'no one will question anything, because it is India' and leaves. But after he leaves the room, there is a sudden bomb blast.

Before when the conversation takes place, you can't help but feel pity and sad for Prithviraj who looks helpless. But it is only until you see him smiling after the bomb blast – A smile of revenge. Now you do realise why he said to the old man that the canteen was outside the building.

The trailer starts off slowly, as if you are watching a small scene from the film, and elevates to a thriller in the last few moments. With makers revealing there are two parts to the film, it will be interesting to see what they have in store.
