thor: love and thunder

The Thor: Love and Thunder trailer fills audiences in on what the Norse God has been doing after the events of Avengers: Infinity War (2019). “He got in shape, he went from dad bod to God bod,” says Korg (Taika Waititi, who has also written and directed the film). Thor’s journey of self-discovery hits a speedbump when he finds out isn’t the only Thor out there – his former girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), an astrophysicist, now also possesses the power of Thor and can wield his hammer Mjolnir. The trailer hints at Thor’s unresolved feelings for her since their split eight years earlier.

Any hope of a rekindled romance however, is interrupted by the arrival of the supervillain Gorr (Christian Bale), who’s had enough of the Gods’ selfishness and vows he’s going to kill them all. “You are not like the other Gods I’ve killed,” he tells Thor. “Because I’ve got something worth fighting for,” Thor replies. Is that Jane? His renewed sense of purpose? A new found family? Cue Thor, Jane, Korg and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) teaming up to fight Gorr.

Also starring Russell Crowe as the Greek god Zeus, Thor: Love and Thunder releases on July 8.
