"It's time to take out the trash," declares Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani in the trailer for House of Gucci. Patrizia was married to Maurizio Gucci, the heir and owner of Gucci (and the grandson of its founder, Guccio Gucci). In 1991, they were divorced. In 1995, Maurizio was shot and killed by a hit man, whom Patrizia hired. She was then tried and sentenced to twenty-nine years in prison (she was released in 2016 after eighteen years on account of good behaviour).
The film House of Gucci, based on the book of the same name, tells the story of "money, family, power, betrayal, sex, loyalty, scandal, ambition, murder". Apart from Lady Gaga, there's also Adam Driver, who stars as Maurizio alongside a host of Hollywood who's-who putting on sexy Italian accents: Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek, Al Pacino and an unrecognisable Jared Leto.
House of Gucci is directed by Ridley Scott (one of two films he will have out this year). It will be released in theatres in November and then will stream on Paramount+.
