Rajkummar Rao is ‘a classic case of post-traumatic stress’, as one character puts it, a cop haunted by a past, in Hit: The First Case. The title is an abbreviation of Homicidal Intervention Team and Rao’s character finds himself being assigned a case presumably of a woman gone missing, or probably dead. The promo opens with the woman stranded on a highway when a man in a cop uniform (Milind Gunaji) offers help. The woman is suspicious.
The film is a remake of the Telugu film (of the same name) from 2020 written and directed by Sailesh Kolanu. Also starring Sanya Malhotra as Rao’s romantic partner, HiT is set in Rajasthan (shots of Udaipur, Jaipur at midnight, and hills). It is shot by S Manikandan and has music by Mithoon and Manan Bhardwaj. It will release on July 15.
