The makers of Bro Daddy launched a trailer that gives little information about plot, but promises a funny family comedy that brings back glimpses of Mohanlal from the early 90s. In an early scene, a visitor mistakes Mohanlal's character to be Prithviraj's brother even though he is "bro daddy". It's also clear that Mohanlal will be playing a rich businessman who doesn't shy away from spending money to boost his image, a lot like Mammootty's Pranchiyettan.
Meena will play his wife and Prithviraj's mother. From first viewing, Prithviraj's love story with Kalyani Priyadarshan could be the main narrative focus with lots of room for comedy owing to Mohanlal's interference. Soubin also appears to be playing a funny character. The trailer is also interesting in the way that it never shifts gears to appear more serious or dramatic with a consistent comedic tone throughout.

A teaser of the film was scheduled to release on 31 December but the makers decided to postpone it last minute. Apart from the two lead superstars, the film also features Kalyani Priyadarshan, Meena, Lalu Alex, Kaniha, Malika Sukumaran, Jagadish and Soubin Shahir in important roles.
The film's music is by Deepak Dev and it was shot by Abhinandan Ramanujam. The "fun family entertainer" was written by Sreejith N. and Bibin Maliekal.
Prithviraj's second directorial was supposed to be Empuraan, the sequel to blockbuster Lucifer but it had to be pushed owing to Covid restrictions. This will be Mohanlal's first direct OTT release on Disney Hotstar after his collaborations with Amazon Prime.
