Three recent deaths in a small town in Goa seem natural enough on the surface, but aren’t. Or so thinks the local policeman, played by Purab Kohli. At the centre of the spooky occurrences is the Bardez Villa, being investigated by a group of school-friends-turned-amateur-ghost-hunters. “When a person dies an unnatural death, their soul is trapped between universes,” says one of them.
We aren’t told much about the Villa’s mysterious previous occupants, only that they had a young daughter named Jenny. When a new family moves into the home, the ghostly apparitions amplify. There are plenty of jumpscares, closeups of frightened faces and the clacking of typewriter keys.
Also starring Palomi Ghosh, Sameer Kochhar, Aarna Sharma, Mikhail Gandhi, Palash Kamble, and Aaryansh Malviya, Typewriter is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The five-episode show will be released on Netflix on July 19.
