Thappad Trailer Talk: Anubhav Sinha Takes Aim At Domestic Abuse In His Latest Rousing Wake Up Call

The trailer for Anubhav Sinha's next, titled Thappad, is here.

The filmmaker, who's reinvented himself recently and gone on to make some of the most significant and politically-charged films of the last few years with Mulk in 2018 and Article 15 last year, now sets his gaze on domestic abuse.

Taapsee Pannu stars as the devoted wife who's entire world is shaken after her seemingly loving husband slaps her in a fit of rage. What follows is her messy, turbulent quest for justice and divorce.

All while her family, friends and lawyers try and make her 'see reason' and not overreact at what was 'just a slap'. Adjust, compromise, tolerate and forgive is the recommended course of action from all fronts, as she's berated for even considering divorce for something so incidental. 'Give him a chance, imagine how embarrassed he already is' says one friend.

Pavail Gulati (Kalank, Made In Heaven, Ghost Stories) plays the husband in question amidst an impressive supporting cast which includes Dia Mirza, Kumud Mishra, Ratna Pathak Shah, Manav Kaul, Ram Kapoor and Soni's Geetika Vidya Ohlyan. Strangely enough, no sight of Anubhav Sinha-staple Manoj Pahwa in this one.

Written by Anubhav Sinha and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul, the film releases on 28th February. You can watch the trailer below:
