India has borne the burnt edge of the conversation around legacy and nepotism- from politics to cinema. In the fray comes Ali Abbas Zafar’s digital debut, Tandav. The teaser begins with a statement that likens prime minister-ship to kingship, a mistaking of democracy for dynasty. Large swathes of people are shown, with rather prescient protest banners like “Factory nahin, khet chahiye”, and “Kisan chatr ekta zindabad”. This looks like a tale of politics, and palace intrigue.
Created and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar ( Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Bharat), produced by Himanshu Mehra, it stars Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Dino Morea, and Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub among others. The series drops on Amazon Prime on January 15th.
