Arjun Kapoor’s job in Sardar Ka Grandson involves moving houses in the US. When he returns to Punjab, to the family matriarch Sardar (Neena Gupta), he realizes that her heart is stuck in her house in Lahore that she had to leave post-partition. One part of this immigration drama involves Sardar’s failed attempts to travel back to Lahore. The other part involves Kapoor’s realization that if you cannot get the person to the home, you can get the home to the person — that to move hearts you must move houses, and so begins the story of moving the Lahore house across the border to India.
