Rocket Boys On SonyLIV Trailer Talk: Jim Sarbh And Ishwak Singh Play Homi Bhabha And Vikram Sarbhai, Physicists Of Nehruvian India

Jim Sarbh plays Homi Bhabha and Ishwak Singh — who shot to fame as the kind, diligent police officer in Pataal Lok — plays Vikram Sarabhai. Bhabha and Sarabhai were scientists instrumental in creating institutions of science, research, and management in India. From a wealthy industrialist family, Vikram Sarabhai, who mentored the former President A.P. J Abdul Kalam, helped get cable television into India. He was also one of the founders of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and facilitated the establishment of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Homi Bhabha, his friend and colleague, supported him in setting up the first rocket launch station near Thiruvananthapuram. When Bhabha died in a sudden air tragedy in 1966, it was Sarabhai who took over as chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission — such was both their professional and personal connection.

The show Rocket Boys follows these two figures, as they work together and part ways, only to come back and create India's atomic program. The teaser of the show released last year, on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, and had Nehru's 'Tryst With Destiny' speech overlaid with Nehruvian hope and Achint Thakkar's swelling score. The show also stars Regina Cassandra, Rajat Kapur, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Saba Azad, and Arjun Radhakrishnan in pivotal roles.

The show, created by filmmaker Nikkhil Advani, Roy Kapur Films and EmmayEntertainment, is written and directed by Abhay Pannu, who is making his directorial debut. The show premieres on SonyLIV on February 4th.
