Paatal Lok Trailer Talk: Anushka Sharma’s New Show Looks To Be Amazon Prime Video’s Most Politically Charged Indian Series Yet

The trailer for Amazon Prime Video's upcoming Paatal Lok is here.

The platform's next big Indian original series marks the digital debut of Anushka Sharma's Clean Slate Films and looks to be a dark, gritty drama that brings together the messy worlds of gangsters and the media. The series is reportedly adapted from Tarun Tejpal's novel The Story of My Assassins.

The 3 minute-long trailer introduces us to a police inspector (Jaideep Ahlawat) and follows his investigation into the attempted murder of an eminent journalist (Neeraj Kabi) by a group of violent gangsters Vishal "Hathoda" Tyagi (Abhishek Banerjee).

We're introduced to the four accused in what appears to be a straight forward investigation, but nothing is as it seems as evidence starts disappearing and the police face increasingly more bureaucracy and obstacles the closer they get to the truth, indicating a larger web of crime.

The show, which looks to be Amazon Prime Videos most politically-charged series yet, comes from creator Sudip Sharma, writer of celebrated films like NH10, Udta Punjab and Sonchiriya.

Directed by Avinash Arun (Killa) and Prosit Roy (Pari), the 9-part series will start streaming from May 15 on Amazon Prime Video. You can watch the trailer below.
