FC Trailer Talk: Daddy

Daddy, directed by National Award winner Ashim Ahluwalia, traces the life of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli played by Arjun Rampal. The trailer shows Mumbai of the 1970s and the rise of the B.R.A Gang in Dagdi Chawl due to unemployment after textile mills are locked down. The abbreviation stands for Babu, Rama and Arun (played by Arjun Rampal), who goes on to become one of the most feared gangsters in the city.

The film spans four decades and shows Arjun Rampal's transition from a gangster to a politician. The resemblance between Gawli and Rampal is striking. His look is complete with a prosthetic nose, long tresses and a distinct Marathi accent.

The film is directed and co-written by Ashim Ahluwalia, who won two National Award for his films John & Jane (2007) and Miss Lovely (2012). Arjun Rampal, who has also written the film, turns producer with Daddy, which is slated to release on July 21.
