Dream Girl Trailer Talk: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Greatest Hits Package

The trailer of Raaj Shaandilya's Dream Girl will make you think of all the recent hit Hindi comedies set in 'small town India', as well as those starring Ayushmann Khurrana.

There's Annu Kapoor, the doctor in Vicky Donor, who plays his father here. And like that film, here too, Khurrana plays a character with a taboo-busting side job that has something to do with matters of sex.

In Dream Girl, Khurrana – shown to have the gift of switching into a female voice – offers his services through a hotline to the lonely souls of Mathura: from the local cop (Vijay Raaz) to a 'Haryanvi' gujjar boy, to his girlfriend's brother (Nushrat Bharucha plays the girlfriend).

We see faces that have become familiar with the small town milieu: Rajesh Sharma, Manjot Singh. The friend from Stree – Abhishek Banerjee – who has a funny exchange with Khurrana, on the phone.

The lines seem like they could sound crass on paper, but they somehow land; it might have to do with the actor's current winning streak — anything he does seems to be working.

With story and screenplay by Nirmaan D Singh and Shaandilya (who has also written the dialogue), and produced by Ekta and Shobha Kapoor, Dream Girl will release on 13 September.
