Tamanna (Shreya Chaudhry) is a popstar on the lookout for her next big hit. She meets the classically trained Radhe (Ritwik Bhowmik), who initially derides her skimpy costumes and “loud” genre of music, but eventually decides to collaborate with her. They pretend to be a couple to get into the headspace of writing a romantic song, but the lines blur and they aren’t sure of whether they’re, as another character puts it, “girlfriend-boyfriend, boss-employee, friends with benefits or sambogh buddies”. Meanwhile, Radhe’s guruji (Naseeruddin Shah) is none too pleased by his defection to pop music, and pushes him to think about whether he may be helping Tamanna pursue her dreams at the cost of his own.
Also starring Amit Mistry, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Rahul Kumar, the series features original music by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. Directed by Anand Tiwari (Love Per Square Foot), Bandish Bandits releases on Amazon Prime Video on August 4.
