In the age of the Coronavirus quarantine, lockdown and self-isolation, many more of us are relying on streaming platforms in search of distraction, escape or just plain entertainment. With a new month comes new possibilities, talent, collaborations and shiny new releases for us to get lost in. From Bombay Begums on Netflix, to the highly anticipated Falcon And The Winter Soldier on Disney+Hotstar, here is a list of what’s releasing this month across platforms.

The latest direct to digital release Indian release stars Sanya Malhotra as a woman who’s husband suffers an untimely death just a few months into their marriage leading to a slew of revelations that force her to re-examine her priorities and make some hard decisions.

This documentary celebrates his life through rare behind-the-scenes footage and the testimonies of his closest friends and family.

Murder Among The Mormons

When: March 3rd

Murder Among the Mormons is the first comprehensive look at one of the most shocking crimes to have ever taken place among the Mormon community and the criminal mastermind behind it all. The three-part documentary series examines a trio of bombings in 1985 that killed two people and shocked Salt Lake City.

Pacific Rim: The Black

When: March 4th 

An Anime spin-off to Guillermo DelToro’s blockbuster epic, this series is set in world where Australia has been overrun by Kaiju with towering monsters lurking in every corner, leaving it to teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley to fight back.

Bombay Begums

Netflix’s latest Indian original series comes from Alankrita Shrivastava and follows five women across generations wrestling with desire, ethics, personal crises, and vulnerabilities in contemporary urban India. 

The Lost Pirate Kingdom

When: March 15th

Another Netflix docu-series, this one about the real-life pirates of the Caribbean that violently plundered the world’s riches and form a surprisingly egalitarian republic. 

The One

When: March 12th

Do you believe in soul mates? More importantly, would you want to know if the person you’re with is yours? This drama series is set in a world where a DNA test can find your perfect partner. The idea is simple, but the implications are explosive.

The Irregulars

When: March 26th

Welcome to 19th-century London, where The Irregulars – a group of misfits, work to solve supernatural crimes at the behest of Dr. Watson and his elusive partner, Sherlock Holmes. Fantasy, mystery and, from the sounds of it, extremely binge-worthy. 

 

Amazon Prime Video

Coming 2 America

Amazon Prime continues its run of bagging the sequels to some of the most celebrated films (Borat, Drishyam) with this sequel to the beloved comedy starring Eddie Murphy returning as newly-crowned King Akeem. Alongside his trusted confidante Semmi(Arsenio Hall), the two embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York. 

Making Their Mark S1

When: March 2nd

Making Their Mark takes us into the inner sanctum of Australia’s greatest sport in the most challenging year in its history. The docu-series showcases the players, coaches, and executives across six teams in the Australian Football League as they navigate a year like no other. 

Invincible Season 1

When: March 26th

In the age of superhero fatigue, while many are tired of the same old superheroes, I’d argue there’s never been a better time for original stories that try and do something different. Invincible is an adult animated superhero series that revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who’s just like every other guy his age — except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

After the smash-hit success of WandaVision, Marvel’s all set to release their second MCU series in Falcon And The Winter Soldier. Reeling from the lost of Cap, Falcon and Bucky team up for a global adventure that will test their survival skills – as well as their patience.

Marvel Studios Assembled

When: March 12th 

Assembled is a comprehensive documentary series streaming that chronicles the creation of Marvel Studios’ shows and theatrical releases. Journey behind-the-scenes of productions such as WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Loki.

When: March 12th

Vande Bharat IX1344: Hope To Survival

On 7th August during the peak of the ongoing pandemic, 184 passengers boarded a Vande Bharat– Mission Flight IX1344 from Dubai in the hope that they will finally be back home with their loved ones. The rescue flight from Dubai to India met with a tragic accident upon arrival at the Calicut International Airport in Kerala, claiming the lives of 19. The documentary examines the tragedy and efforts of the state services to save lives.

Alka Raghuram’s documentary follows three young Muslim women in Kolkata who battle tradition and challenge stereotypes by learning boxing. 

Daughter Of Nepal

When: March 8th

Daughter Of Nepal tellsthe story of Manushi Yami Bhattarai, the daughter of two formidable political leaders of Nepal. As her parents prepared to go underground for the Peoples’ War in the mid-1990’s, nine-year-old Manushi was sent across the border to live under an assumed identity.

Shot in Iran, Kurdistan, Syria and Lebanon over the course of three turbulent years, Notturno is an intimate and devastating depiction of the civilian populations who have no choice but to live on the frontlines.
