In the age of the Coronavirus quarantine, lockdown and self-isolation, many more of us are relying on streaming platforms in search of distraction, escape or just plain entertainment. With a new month comes new possibilities, talent, collaborations and shiny new releases for us to get lost in.

From Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan’s star-studded anthology Navarasa on Netflix, to Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Shershaah on Amazon Prime Video, here is a list of what’s releasing this month across platforms.

Kuruthi (Malayalam)

When: August 11th

Directed by Manju Warrier, the film, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, revolves around how enduring human relations transcend boundaries in a struggle to survive hatred and prejudice.

Shershaah

The biographical war film starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani is based on the story of Param Vir Chakra recipient Kargil war hero, Captain Vikram Batra.

Modern Love: Season 2

When: August 13th

The anthology TV series based on the New York Times’ column that explores relationships, love and the human connection is back for a second season.

Godzilla Vs Kong

When: August 14th

The next chapter in the cinematic Monsterverse pits the fearsome Godzilla and the mighty Kong against one another, with humanity caught in the balance.

Nine Perfect Strangers

When: August 20th

Nine stressed city dwellers visit a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation. The resort’s director is a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies.

Netrikann (Tamil)

After witnessing a kidnapping, a blind woman is caught in a cat-and-mouse game with a serial killer. The film stars Nayanthara.

Bhuj The Pride Of India

When: August 13th

Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Norah Fatehi star in a story of how 300 Gujarati women helped the Indian Airforce rebuild the IAF airbase during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Spin

When: August 15th

Starring Abhay Deol and Avantika Vandanapu, the film follows an Indian-American teen who discovers her artistic side through the unique world of DJ culture. She begins creating mixes that blend her Indian heritage and the world around her.

Cruella

Emma Stone stars in a live-action prequel feature film following a young Cruella de Vil.
