These days it feels like a real challenge to keep up with what's dropping when on which platform, with new show announcements popping up all the time. That said, October promises to be yet another exciting month in the world of streaming with a wide range of stories. From Shah Rukh Khan in conversation with David Letterman to multiple new Indian stand up specials to HBO's new tentpole series, here are our picks of what's releasing this month across platforms.

Netflix

My Next Guest With David Letterman And Shah Rukh Khan

When: TBC

Even when he's not making movies Shah Rukh Khan manages to be a part of things we can't wait to see. As the latest guest of David Letterman's celebrated chat show, King Khan joins a long line of esteemed guests like George Clooney, Jay-Z and Barack Obama.

Upstarts

When: October 18th 

Much like HBO's Silicon Valley or TVF's Pitchers, the latest Netflix Indian original film takes us into the world of startups. The business movie has long been underserved in Hindi cinema and we can only hope streaming can step up to the plate and more importantly that this gives Netflix India a much-needed win.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

When: October 11th 

What's really left to say about this other than 'bring it on already!' The original cast and creators of one of the greatest stories ever told return for a movie based on what happened to Jesse Pinkman after the heart-wrenching yet satisfying events of the Breaking Bad finale.

Peaky Blinders Season 5

When: October 4th 

Widely considered the best show that deserves a larger audience, the award-winning gangster epic starring Cillian Murphy returns to give us more of the violent escapades of Tommy Shelby and the Shelby crime family in the aftermath of World War 1.

Jenny Slate: Stage Fright

When: October 22nd

Comedian Jenny Slate (SNL, Venom, Obvious Child) is the latest comic to get her own Netflix special. The innovative show is reported to be a mix of stand-up, clips from her childhood, and interviews with her family.

S.U.S.H.I by Biswa Kalyan Rath 

When: 25th October

Beloved comic Biswa Kalyan Rath becomes one of the few Indian comics to get a second Prime Video comedy special. S.U.S.H.I promises to deliver more laughs in Biswa's signature style of jokes that are in equal parts hilarious and existential.

Modern Love

When: 1st – 18th October

They went and made a romantic comedy series inspired by the popular New York Times column of the same name with an all-star cast that includes Tina Fey, Julia Garner, Anne Hathaway, Dev Patel among many others. If that doesn't warm your heart then this delightful trailer certainly will. Modern Love "explores love in all of its complicated and beautiful forms" and we cannot wait.

Pata Nahi Par Bolna Hai by Karunesh Talwar

When: 4th October

Comic Karunesh Talwar jumps on the Prime Video comedy special bandwagon with his new show about getting older, the fear of turning into an Indian uncle, and a whole lot more.

Ramy

When: 4th October 

Widely considered the new Master Of None, Ramy is a semi-autobiographical series which follows New Jersey-based Egyptian-American comic Ramy Hassan and his struggles with balancing his Muslim identity while being a 'carefree millennial generation guy'.

Done By Kunal Rao

When: 18th October 

Almost at 40, East India Comedy's Kunal Rao has decided he has no idea what he's doing in life. What better way to work through your issues than getting on stage and talking it out? In the personal special, Rao narrates his experiences of being awkward and cynical while coming to terms with getting older.

Watchmen

When: 21st October

HBO's next big bet is another series that looks to subvert the superhero genre. Based on Alan Moore's graphic novel of the same name, considered by many to be one of the greatest novels ever written, the show takes us to a world where superheroes are outlawed. Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof promises to provide a fresh take on the celebrated story, previously adapted in Zack Snyder's 2009 film.

Silicon Valley Season 6

When: 28th October

The final season of the popular startup-based comedy sees our favourite app developers taking on the beast of data privacy and social media. Stars Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods and Kumail Nanjiani return for one last hurrah and hopefully a worthy send-off.

Arrow Season 8

When: 16th October

The 8th and final season of the show credited for igniting the superhero boom on TV will bring an end to the Oliver Queen story. While this may be its end, it leaves behind a rich legacy of more than 5 DC shows and counting (Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow among others) collectively known as the Arrowverse. The hope is they give it a deserving end so none of us has the chance to say 'you have failed this series.'

Mrs Fletcher

When: 28th October  

Based on the best selling novel, the HBO miniseries is a 'dual coming-of-age comedy' which follows the lives of empty nest divorcée Eve Fletcher discovering her sexuality whilst her son tries to find his place as a freshman in college.

What The Folks Season 3

When: 5th October

The third season of the runaway hit show promises more satire on Indian families, intergenerational conflict and providing a fresh look at modern relationships.

Flames 2

When: October 18th

The second season of the TVF show about teenage romance takes a deeper look at young love, focusing on the ups and downs of a first relationship.

Fathers 2

When: 25th October

A series about middle-aged men trying to discover their inner millennial, the season of Fathers sees them try their hand at binge-watching, understanding social media, playing PUBG and eventually trying to establish a start-up.

Fixerr

When: 7th October 

Tigmanshu Dhulia, Mukesh Chhabra and Rakhi Sawant are among the cast of ALTBalaji's new show about an honest cop who becomes 'the most wanted fixer' of the rich and famous. Can you say Ray Donovan? The show will also be available on ZEE5.

Kaale Dhande

When: 2nd October

The new Marathi comedy series follows Vicky, a young photographer, whose life turns upside down due to various unforeseen situations.

Bhinna 

When: 8th October

The latest ZEE5 original film is a Kannada thriller centred around an aspiring actress who's real-life starts to resemble the script of the movie she's working in.

Nude (Directors' Cut)

When: 11th October

Ravi Jadhav's acclaimed film found itself in a world of controversy due to its title, yet finally, it gets an online realise with no cuts or censorship but just as intended.

G.O.D

When: 23rd October

From acclaimed director Anish Yohan Kuruvilla the Telugu show is a fictional political drama based on the mining mafia of the 1960s. The story follows a man struggling to make ends meet for his family, pushing him to a life of crime until he becomes the most powerful man in the fictitious town of Dharmapuri.

Hello Mini

When: 1st October

MX Player's new thriller follows a young woman in Mumbai who starts being stalked by an unknown stranger, watching her every move. The series follows her search to uncover who they are before it's too late.
