Movie theatres across the country may be slowly planning their reopening, but the streaming wars show no sign of letting up. Last week both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video announced their respective Tamil anthologies at the same time, and Disney plus Hotstar is ready to drop their Laxmmi Bomb trailer. And if that's not enough, Amazon Prime Video has made yet another announcement about releasing 9 movies (Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam) over the next 3 months.

Halal Love Story is an upcoming Malayalam comedy starring Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Soubin Shahir and Parvathy Thiruvothu. The film promises to bring back all the charm and small-town goodness of its director Zakariya Mohammed's previous film Sudani From Nigeria. The film is about a small town getting together to make a film. Halal Love Story is produced by Aashiq Abu's OPM Cinemas and Jesna Ashim and Harshad Ali under Papaya Films.

Directed by Ashok and starring Bhumi Pednekar, Durgavati tells the story of an innocent Government officer who is embroiled in a conspiracy involving powerful forces. The film is presented by T-Series and Cape of Good Films and is an Abundantia Entertainment production.

Starring R Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath, Maara is a romantic drama directed by Dhilip Kumar. It is produced by Prateek Chakravorty and Shruti Nallappa of Pramod Films.
Streaming on 25th December
This is a big coup for the streaming giant. Coolie No. 1, starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, was touted as one of the biggest theatrical releases of the year. The film will see director David Dhawan reprise his own massively popular comedy film, starring Govinda, from 25 years ago.
