5 Most-Viewed OTT Shows And Movies Of The Week

Streaming platforms are notorious for their lack of transparency, allowing them to quote numbers that are tough to verify. Ormax Media, a media consulting firm, however, has been tracking viewership figures of the top releases across major platforms.

Here’s a list of the most-viewed shows and movies from the Indian streaming space between April 15th and April 21st, 2024. The numbers are estimates based within India, and only include Hindi streaming releases.

1. The Great Indian Kapil Show - Netflix

Views (million): 4.8

Kapil Sharma reunites with Sunil Grover and his rag-tag comedy crew to bring the popular essence of his weekly comedy show on Netflix. The Great Indian Kapil Show will drop one episode per week.  

2. Amar Singh Chamkila - Netflix

Views (million): 3.3

This biographical drama is based on the life of influential Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila. It is directed by Imtiaz Ali, and stars Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role, with Parineeti Chopra as Chamkila’s wife Amarjot.

3. Adrishyam - The Invisible Heroes - SonyLIV

Views (million): 2.9

An espionage thriller which follows the life of undercover intelligence officers Ravi and Parvati, who track and neutralize terror risks to protect the nation while posing as regular employees of the meteorological department.

4. Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout - Zee5

Views (million): 2.8

This film follows ACP Avinash Verma as he investigates the killing of a minister's assistant in a mass shootout.

5. Lootere - Disney+ Hotstar

Views (million): 2.5

Hansal Mehta is the showrunner on this web-series, which is based on the real-life hijacking of a ship by menacing pirates. Rajat Kapoor plays the ship captain.
