Aditya Chopra remains reclusive because he wants to be one of the audience, according to the book Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge - A Modern Classic

Filmmaker Aditya Chopra turns 47 today. The son of veteran Yash Chopra and chairman of Yash Raj Films has consciously kept away from the public eye for years now. In Harper Collins' book Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge – A Modern Classic, he explains the reason behind staying away from the spotlight.

"The purity of DDLJ came because I see my films for just the love of films. I love films and the charm of going to the theatre, buying a ticket, buying popcorn and waiting for the film to start. That is my greatest high. Nothings gives me more pleasure than that. It is largely responsible for the kind of film I made. It gives me a lot of respect for the audience. I never want to fake an emotion or cheat them. I can only be sincere when I am one of the audience. I firmly believe that if I cannot sit in the theatre as a common person, I'll be finished," he told author Anupama Chopra.
