Vijay Sethupathi, who was last seen in the Hindi-Tamil bilingual Merry Christmas will next headline the Tamil thriller Maharaja. The film is written and directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, who is known for his work in Kurangu Bommai (2017). The makers recently released a second look poster featuring Vijay Sethupathi in a mid shot standing with his face away from the camera. Notedly, Maharaja is also Vijay Sethupathi’s fiftieth feature film in Tamil cinema.
The project also features Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas and Nataraj Subramaniam. Maharaja will feature music by Ajanesh Loknath and cinematography by Dinesh Purushottaman. The film is bankrolled jointly by Passion Studios and Jagadeesh Palanisamy under the banner ‘The Route’. Philomin Raj is the editor and V Selvakumar is the production designer. The film is touted to have a release in the first quarter of 2024.
