Yet another story penned by the legendary Malayalam author and filmmaker Padmarajan is being adapted to the big screen. The team of Praavu (2023) released the trailer of the quirky romance, featuring Amit Chakkalackal in the lead role. This loose adaptation features the story of a sexually inert youngster on the lookout for some out-of-the-way excitement in his life.
The film looks like a call back to an older, more satirical school of filmmaking with broad strokes of commentary aimed at taking potshots at the shallow pursuit of carnal pleasures and the archetypes associated with single lifestyle.
The film, bankrolled by PR Rajasekaran, is being distributed through Wayfarer Films owned by Dulquer Salmaan, who also bankrolled King of Kotha (2023) recently. Praavu has a stellar supporting cast which includes actors like Ajayan Thakazhi, Nisha Sarang, Dini Daniel and Tini Sunil among others.
The film is written and directed by Navaz Ali and features cinematography by Anthony Jo, whereas editing is handled by Jovin John. Praavu is set to hit the big screen on September 15.
