Ritesh Sidhwani opens up on casting Ranveer Singh in Don 3

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani has commented on the backlash received by the announcement that Ranveer Singh would play the character of Don in the upcoming film Don 3.

In an interview with indianexpress.com Sidhwani said, “It’s nothing. We will answer that when we come to Don 3. When you see the trailer, you tell me if that guy lives up to what the character [demands in the film]. Now, it’s our job to make sure it happens.”

Sidhwani shared that ever since he and Farhan Akhtar started producing films, they have always tried to cast the right actor instead of chasing stars. He also added that OTT platforms give creators the liberty to cast the right actor for a part without feeling the pressure of needing a star.

Filming for Don 3 will begin in January 2025. The film is produced by Sidhwani and Akhtar and and will be directed by Akhtar.
