Rekha to Heeramandi’s Manisha Koirala: ‘If I couldn't do the role, you get to do it’

Sanjay Leela Bhansali made his streaming debut with an eight episode series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar on Netflix. The show based on the life of couresans in the pre-independence era in Lahore features Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal Mehta in lead roles.

In a recent interview, post the release of the show, Koirala revealed how veteran actress Rekha praised her performance in the series and said, “Bachcha, I was praying if I couldn't do the role, you get to do it. My prayers have come true. You have done it marvellously, you have gone through so much in life. You have added soul to the role.”

Heeramandi which also stars Farida Jalal, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman in prominent roles, premiered on Netflix on May 1.
