Filmmaker Basil Joseph who will make his Hindi film directorial debut with Shaktimaan starring Ranveer Singh was rumoured to be shelved a few days ago but the latest update rom Lada Guruden Singh, General Manager and Head of Sony Pictures International Productions in India, revealed that the project is on.
Singh shared an article denouncing an online publication for providing inaccurate information regarding the project. The media company had announced that Sony was apprehensive about the script's requirement for a Rs 550 crore budget, which is why the superhero movie had been shelved. “Ranveer Singh loved the script and was on board. The team might revisit the film in the near future,” it wrote.
The superhero television show Shaktimaan aired on DD National for approximately 8 years, starting in 1997. Mukesh Khanna, who portrayed Shaktimaan and his alter ego, Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, a newspaper photographer, produced the show.
