Rajkummar Rao’s Srikanth Earns Nearly Rs. 12 Crore Over the Weekend

Rajkummar Rao’s recent biopic Srikanth features him playing a visually-impaired industrialist. Based on the real life of Telugu industrialist Srikanth Bolla, the film collected nearly Rs. 12 crore in the weekend since its release on May 10. According to Sacnilk Entertainment, Srikanth opened at Rs 2.25 crore, earning Rs 4.2 crore on Day 2 and Rs. 5.5 crore on Day 3.

The film, directed by Tushar Hiranandani, also stars Jyothika, Alaya F and Sharad Kelkar. In an interview with Film Companion’s Anupama Chopra, Rao opened up about his method acting and the in-depth preparation he did to sensitively essay a blind man who fights for his dreams. Though his performance has been praised, the film has been criticised for being flat and simplistic. However, Srikanth’s box office numbers so far are certainly promising.
