Rajinikanth Joins Forces With Lokesh Kanagaraj For Thalaivar 171

Lokesh Kanagaraj has already announced his next film with none other than Rajinikanth in the lead. The director will be joining hands with Rajinikanth for the yet untitled Thalaivar 171 (2024), which will be bankrolled by Sun Pictures.

The director took to his social media pages to share the announcement poster for the project with the major crew also attached. The poster modeled in blood red colors features silver fonts with splatter of blood on them signifying yet another violent crime film. The title font also has stars sprinkled throughout as a slight nod to the superstar. Anirudh Ravichandar will be composing the music for the film while Anbariv will be taking care of the action choreography. They have worked with Lokesh previously on Master (2021) and Vikram (2021).

The film will be Sun Picture’s follow up to the blockbuster success of Jailer (2023) , however won't be the next film for Rajinikanth, who will be completing the yet untitled “ Thalaivar 170” to be directed by T J Gnanavel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame. Lokesh Kanagaraj on the other hand is all set for the release of Leo (2023) which is his fourth film and stars Vijay in the lead role. The film is gearing for a release next month.

The team of Thalaivar 171 has not shared any official confirmation regarding the shooting schedule or other cast details for the Rajinikanth starrer till now. The film is also widely anticipated to be part of the Lokesh Kanagaraj Cinematic Universe (LCU), with recurring characters from all his films.
