Nitesh Tiwari at Bawaal trailer launch: The most challenging moments were integrating portions of history

The trailer for the upcoming film Bawaal, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor was released on Sunday at a launch event in Dubai. The film is a love story with a historical angle. Talking about the most challenging aspect of shooting the film, director Nitesh Tiwari said, “The most challenging moments were integrating portions of history because we wanted to not only be factually correct but we wanted to be correct in terms of the production design and costumes.”

In the trailer, Dhawan and Kapoor are shown visiting Europe and discovering unexpected resonances between their own lives and the World War II era. Tiwari said, “It took a lot of research for my production design team and costume team, and trying to recreate something (World War II) of that magnitude is never easy. Most challenging was shooting the Omaha beach war sequence. Physically and emotionally both, it was quite exhausting for all of us."

Bawaal is releasing exclusively on Prime Video on July 21.
